Seeking Teaching Artists for 2023
Teaching Artist must pass a background check for the district teaching within and child care licensing through Identogo (@ $40/each - SBISD requires additional screening of $40). This fee is reimbursed upon completion of the session duration (start date of session to finish) and once all materials are returned to Theater Lab Kids and with presentation of receipt. Additionally, all staff must be trained to administer CPR and First Aid with vaild proof (not expired) including certificate or card.
The Fall 2023 sessions begin September 11, 2023 through December 15, 2023, excluding holidays/closures with makeup dates (if needed) December 18-22.
Teaching Artists are expected/required to:

have theatre experience and training

have experience with children in a former position with references

arrive on time to begin instruction promptly at 3:30 and complete class at 4:30

be able to think quickly on your feet and entertain the children

be knowledgeable or capable to execute and explain of games and improv exercises for children in theatre

be knowledgeable in the content area of theater

have reliable transportation

write play/s for the class/es you instruct based on the student's ideas. Creativity is a plus!

be patient and have experience managing children and report incidents/issues immediately

be creative with applying lesson plans to your style of teaching

be able to take direction and report to Theater Lab on a weekly basis, as well as communicate needs throughout the session

be able to commit to instructing for the duration of the semester (September 11, 2023- Decemeber 15, 2022) including makeup days if needed (December 18-22)

In the event we cannot make up a date, we may opt to add additional instruction to classes and compensate based on blocks of time based on teacher availability.
Teaching artists are paid by the class after school at a Contract Rate of $50/class and must be able to accept electronic payment. Teachers will receive a 1099-NEC for tax purposes and responsible for reporting accordingly.
