Greetings friends and Colleagues!
This year I am challenging myself to fundraise for kids (my favorite people)!
I am participating in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on the School Art Auction Committee this year and hoping you may wish to help me earn my Badge. I am committed to sell $3600 towards scholarships and educational programs.
I am including information on the break downs and what the money goes toward. There are several donor packages available or you can make a flat donation. But first a bit of history.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo started in 1932. The HLSRs mission is to support youth in Texas, as well as educational programs. The HLSR awards approximately 800 scholarships annually with over $14,000,000 going to recipients toward higher education. On average scholarships are $17,500/recipient. Additional monies are set aside for the Educational Fund of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The School Art Committee branch began in 1969 to showcase the talent of artistic youth in Texas. It began with only 700 entries. In 1996 the School Art Committee had its first auction which proved to be a success. The School Art Committee grew into the School Art Auction Committee (SAAC) in 2003. The organization today has grown to more than 300,000 entries and features art from more than 95 ISDs and 50 private schools across Texas. By virtue of committed volunteers SAAC has grown from auction sales of $500,000 the inaugural year, to over $2.6 million in 2023!
Higher education is costly. With a senior in High School I know this to be true. The School Art Auction Committee donates an average of 15 - 4 years scholarships at $20,000/recipient from the dollars raised by Auction and Donors! Each donation, no matter the size, is the building block for someone's future.
Donors may choose to make a flat donation or choose from one of the packages below. If you wish to commemorate your donations and receive a Giclee of the Grand Champion donation levels start at $300. For $500 you receive a Giclee of the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. If you wish to receive 2 tickets to attend the prestigious gala, packages are $2500.
As an artist and parent myself, I know there are families that will be over the moon to have your support this year to build the funds to send their children to school. AND as a rookie SAAC Member, I would be thrilled to have your dollars aid me in badging to make an incredible difference in children's lives across our great state!
SO... Let's GO TEXAN FOR SOME SCHOLARSHIPS on the School Art Auction Committee!!!!
